Most guides on motorcycle seat shapes pit three abstract categories against each other: flat, scooped, two-up. It’s a generic grid. It doesn’t reflect the way BAAK thinks about its offer.
At BAAK, the seat range is organised first by motorcycle and model year — then by product family. What determines what we suggest is your machine. And within the catalogue, there are several possible answers depending on what you’re trying to do.
The BAAK seat families
The Heritage seat
The Heritage seat is a replacement seat that preserves the general original shape, with a slightly lowered profile (−2.5 cm relative to the original) and an HD foam at 6 cm. It keeps two places. It’s the natural answer for those who want to keep the look of their motorcycle while replacing a worn original seat, or who are looking for improved comfort without changing the machine’s line.
The Flat seat
The Flat seat is cut for the café racer line: very flat profile, sitting flush with the frame, minimalist look. It appeals to builders and riders working on their motorcycle’s aesthetics in a stripped-back register. Two places retained.
The short leather seat kit
The short seat kit is the flagship product of the range. It shortens the seat length by 18 cm relative to the original, tightening the rear line and giving the machine a more compact stance. It’s a made-to-order seat in genuine leather, with a PEHD base and three layers of JUMP® foam for integrated comfort.
This kit stands out for what it includes: stainless steel rear mudguard, approved rear light, number plate bracket and plug & play wiring harness. It’s a complete rear-end replacement — not just a seat. The mudguard finish (satin black, brushed, polished, or ready to paint) and plate position (classic rear or left-side) are choices specific to this kit. Production lead time: 30 days.
Bespoke: modify, rework, embellish
The bespoke department steps in when the catalogue isn’t enough — or when the project is simply different. It isn’t always a seat built from scratch: bespoke can also mean reworking the motorcycle’s original seat, modifying its foam, changing its cover, applying BAAK leather over the existing structure.
It’s also the answer for motorcycles not in the catalogue, two-tone projects, vinyl seats, adjusted heights, or cases where regular two-up riding calls for a foam configuration designed specifically for the passenger. Bespoke is discussed with the workshop, on a quote basis, before any production begins.

What you choose across all leather seats: colour and topstitching
For catalogue seats (Heritage, Flat, short seat kit), the common options are leather colour — aged brown, black, gold, chocolate — and topstitching: classic or diamond pattern. Aged brown leather develops a patina with use and sun; black stays more uniform. These are two different relationships with time, not a matter of prestige.
How to choose
The first question remains: what motorcycle, what year? Mounting points, frame length and mechanical constraints vary from one generation to the next — compatibility determines everything.
Then the question is what you want to do with the machine:
- Replace a worn seat while keeping the original line → Heritage
- Go towards a very flat, café racer aesthetic → Flat
- Shorten the rear and completely renew the back of the motorcycle → Short seat kit
- Rework, modify or embellish the existing seat, or build something specific → Bespoke

At BAAK, choosing a motorcycle seat is not choosing between generic silhouettes. It starts with identifying what you want to do with your machine — and finding within the range the answer that fits, whether that’s a direct replacement, a transformation of the rear line, or a project designed from scratch.
