What you will know when you close it

Where lasting leather comes from. Hides from England, tanning in Italy, cutting and stitching in Lyon: the full journey of the material, and why each step matters.

How to choose yours. Aged brown, black, gold and chocolate do not age the same way. The guide sets out the rules we apply in the workshop to compose a signature that holds over time: one shade per machine, the metal decides, patina is a choice.

How to make it last. The care routine, what to do after rain, winter or engine heat, and what never to do. A well-kept leather piece does not wear out: it develops a patina, and it gets passed on.

The guide applies to every machine: Triumph, Royal Enfield, Moto Guzzi, BMW, an Austin Mini or a Land Rover. And it follows leather into your pocket and onto your desk, from the key ring to the laptop sleeve, cut from the same hides as our seats.

Why we give it away

Because a well-chosen, well-kept leather is the workshop’s best advertisement. A seat with years of road behind it, and more presence for it, tells our work better than any product page. This guide says what we do, why we do it this way, and how to care for it. The rest is yours.

Aged brown leather seat and fork gaiters, BAAK workshop

BAAK is a French house that shapes machines with character. Designers, saddlers, panel beaters, painters and mechanics work under the same roof in Rillieux-la-Pape, fifteen minutes from the centre of Lyon. Every leather piece is cut, stitched and upholstered by hand in the workshop.

Built to be remembered.
